Marrakesh, 2016. An anonymous Snapchat account calling itself Hamza mon bb goes live, and over three years it gathers a million and a half followers by destroying people. Singers, presenters, influencers and businesswomen have their phones broken into and their private photographs offered back to them for money. Pay, or it goes up.

The trail eventually leads not to a lone hacker but to a Marrakesh courtroom: a YouTuber, a car-rental owner, a journalist and one of the country’s best-known singers, all convicted. Then, in 2024, the name comes back. Who was really behind Hamza? How did a blackmail account build one of the biggest followings in Morocco? And who is using the name now?
